For March’s episode of The Mining Experience we will be having a live panel discussion on Women in Mining, featuring two outstanding guests who have made remarkable contributions to the industry. Our panelists will share their experiences, insights, and recommendations on the challenges and opportunities facing women in the mining sector.

During this event, we will delve into topics such as the representation of women in leadership roles, the impact of gender diversity on mining operations, and the strategies for promoting greater inclusion and equality in the industry. Our guests will also discuss their personal journeys in the mining sector, highlighting their successes and overcomed obstacles.

Melissa Ng is a Professional Geologist with deep rooted operational and exploration experience in the mining industry. During this time, she has held several geology positions with multiple North American mining companies in various commodities. This type of site-based rotation work has allowed her to pursue her passion while maintaining her family's home base in Edmonton, AB. She holds an MBA from Athabasca University and a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta.

Mélanie LaRoche-Boisvert is an open pit mine planner with DRA Global, where she works on various studies for new and expanding mining projects around the world. She holds a B.Eng. in Mining Engineering from McGill University as well as an M.Eng from McGill University, focusing on integrating mine-to-port transportation into the simultaneous stochastic optimization of open-pit mining complexes. She is a past Executive with Young Mining Professionals (YMP) Toronto and YMP Scholarships, and has previously been a volunteer with Women in Mining Canada for four years before joining the Board.

Oumaima Latiris
Engineer graduated from the Mohammedia School of Engineering in Morocco in mineral engineering specialized in mining as well as reserve officer. Currently the account manager of Canada for Promine. She is the liaison between the clients and the organization. She is also in charge of expanding Promine’s commercial network in Canada.
Eva Dierkes
Eva Dierkes, has a master degree in mining engineering from Germany. After moving to Canada, she worked for a few years as a QC specialist in the video game industry. She joined Promine nearly 5 years ago as a QA specialist and has since then become the VP of Technical Services.
